FOOD and WINE LOVERS
We’re a couple - Zuzana and Dalibor, who very enthusiastically opened a restaurant in 1996, with no previous experience in gastronomy at all. We are happy that our love for good food and wine has become our livelihood. KOGO was created intuitively as a restaurant we would personally like to visit. The menu consists of the dishes we would personally like to eat and the dishes that we were missing in Bratislava: fresh fish and seafood. We are constantly extending our menu with dishes from Mediterranean cuisine that we found the most delicious during our travels around the world. We don’t consider the public acceptability of our menu - we just cook what we love and we are thrilled to share it! Since the beginning, our main focus has been on fresh fish and sea food. For example, our most popular dish - grilled octopus - has been on the menu for more than 14 years with an unchanged recipe. As the years passed by, our perception of ingredient quality and quality of farmed fish shifted tremendously. Therefore we decided to sell only wild, line-caught fish from FDA approved seas. Thanks to varied nutrition and inartificial way of life, wild fish are nutritionally superior and tastier. We buy our fish fresh, whole and portion them directly in KOGO, so you can be 100% certain what you are being served on your plate. The ingredient quality is the most important aspect for us and you can verify it by a look at our fish display!
CREATORS OF AMBIENCE
Our restaurant consists maily of two spacious mediterranean-style terraces in the heart od Bratislava Old town, directly in pedestrian zone. Terraces covered with roof offer comfort in any weather - effectively heated up with glass ceilings in the winter and airy and cooling during the summer (surrounding trees offer sufficient amount of shadow). All you need to do is to order and enjoy the beautiful view on the Carlton hotel and historical building of Slovak National theatre.
We are glad that our restaurant has been a part of TREND TOP 10 restaurants in Slovakia since its establishment.
In Kogo, we bake fresh SOUR-DOUGH BREAD according to our own recipe every day. We have never thought that someting as essential as bread can be so difficult to tackle. Dalibor fed, nourtured and improved our hay leaven (named Jožko, as we started it on Joseph's namesday). It took him almost entire year until he became satisfied with the result and baked a perfect loaf. A perfect, soft bread with a nice smell, crunchy crust, big airy bubbles and outstanding taste and structure. It is a true alchemy with a perfect time-management. Bread is a gift from the God, foundation of our nourishment and we believe that you will taste the quality and difference!
